In 2010 Annika Ström designed a new series of furniture pieces. Coming directly out of her fascination for the hallstand. This very complex and compact piece of furniture was used as a practical communication/self decoration centre and generally placed in the hallway where the telephone would normally be installed. The hallstand was a popular piece of furniture in the 1970’s, with hooks for coats and hats, a receptacle for umbrellas, a small seat, mirror and a box with a lid for gloves and scarves, which also acted as a table, on the top of which one could place a telephone. Designing bookshelves is not the first attempt by the artist in creating objects combining art and design.
